Home » How to Guides » How To Hide Your Email Address From Facebook Apps How To Hide Your Email Address From Facebook Apps
Popularity of social networking sites depends largely on the various apps and their exciting features. More the number of Apps more is the popularity of that social networking site. The same thing goes well with Facebook too. Millions of fans enjoy interacting with their friends through the games and applications of Facebook often exposing their accounts to various security threats and scams.
Undoubtedly, the interesting features of these Facebook Apps have been successful in tying up millions of users within a time, but it has also opened up opportunities to internet Spams and scams. Users enjoy better interaction through these Apps instead of mundane queries. Most of the Facebook Apps ask for Email addresses of the users before allowing them to use the application, and this poses threats of getting the Email IDs exposed to unknowns.
Farmville has been a popular Facebook Apps for quite sometime. The user needs to visit the home page of Facebook and click the Farmville application. A window will appear immediately where the game developers will seek permission to access the basic information of the user like name, email address and other. Most of the users click “Allow”, which may not be a wise thing to do.
But, you can enjoy Farmville game without exposing your Email ID. All you have to do is to click the “Change” option provided beside the “Send me email” and you will be offered options either to enter your authentic Email ID or any proxy Email ID that will be reported to the game developers by Facebook. The game developers will send emails to that proxy email ID, which will be redirected to your main inbox.
By this process, the developers will be able to access only the proxy Email ID and your primary Email ID will remain secured. This proxy email ID will get removed automatically when you remove the Apps from your account. You will be spared from unwanted junk mails generated from that proxy email ID.
In some cases, the “Change” option does not appear on the “Request for Permission” page, but still you can also secure your primary Email ID and go on with the application. This situation arises only when you try to access the Apps from any web page other than Facebook. In such instances, the “Request for Permission” will show only one option “Access my basic information”.
You have to click on the word “Farmville” at the top left corner of the permission page, and this will automatically direct you to the official Facebook page of Farmville (or any Apps). On that page, you have to click “Go to Apps” options. The “Request for Permission” that will follow will have the “Change” option. Just click that option and follow the steps as mentioned above.
Farmville is only an example as this procedure of hiding Email addresses can be applied to other Facebook applications also. It is always recommended to conceal the original Email ID to prevent piling of junk mails and spams. There is also no need of exposing the original identity while enjoying the Facebook applications.
